How to start? Just do it!

There is a saying that goes: "Stop thinking of doing it and just do it". This is not quite an uncommon thing to happen in real life, and actually, one of the characters of In a Dream, suffers from it.

So, the best advice we can give you to start a short film is just: "Start your short film now". It's sounds silly but it's not!

Jesús Diez and Dan Matley (producers, writers and directors of the film) met at Method Studios, a visual effects studio in London. Great people and very professional. Dan had made a short movie at university and Jesús helped on his friends' films. Both wanted to do make something together, and both working in the visual effects industry made that something clear: a film... and with visual effects, of course.

One day Jesús approached Dan and said "we should make a short film". Dan replied "Yeah, sure. We should". Jesús said back "Yes. We should!" Dan's look changed: "Yes, we actually should!!". That same day, they met at the park to have lunch and talk about ideas. A few hours later, the movie sparked to life. You don't need anything else. We just did it, without even knowing what we were going to do.

From that day, it was just a matter of finding a story, writing it, finding money, actors, crew, locations... quite easy things, indeed, once you know you are making a movie.

Knowing where you are going is half the way.
